“Why should I switch from shaving to waxing or sugaring?”

We love sugaring and waxing because the results last for weeks and over time your hair will grow back softer and thinner. Both treatments create less waste than traditional shaving, plus sugaring uses 100% natural ingredients and is great for sensitive skin.

Because we know how overwhelming it can be to find the right treatment, we offer a thorough range of facials to best help our clients repair their damaged skin barrier, treat their specific skincare needs, and improve their skin's overall health and appearance.

How to prepare for your first sugaring or waxing appointment:

  1. Grow OUT YOUR hair.

It sounds counter intuitive, but growing out your hair to 1/4 to 1/2 inch long (about the length of a grain of rice) will actually help you get a better sugaring or waxing result. With enough length, the waxing and sugaring product will have more to grab on to and give a cleaner pull when removing hair.

  2. Exfoliate with a loofah or body brush.

A light, non-irritating manual exfoliation of your skin can help give a smoother result to your body sugaring or body waxing treatment. But remember, do NOT apply lotion before your appointment (see below for why)!

  3. Don’t apply lotions or deodorant before your Appointment.

Applying lotion or deodorant before your appointment can cause two problems: 1) it can make the sugar or wax product have a harder time griping on to your hair, and 2) it can lead to irritation if your lotion or deodorant has chemicals that are too harsh. On that note, being sure to wash your skin before an appointment can help remove any residual skincare product, plus it can soften the skin to help with hair removal!

  4. Take ibuprofen or Advil 45 minutes before your treatment.

There’s no way around it, waxing and sugaring can hurt a little bit. For some people, it will only feel like a little pinch, for others it can be more intense. If you’re nervous about how it will feel, you can absolutely take ibuprofen (Advil) 45 minutes before your appointment to help reduce the potential for pain!

  5. Relax.

Our estheticians are experienced and well-trained in waxing and sugaring processes and will always do their best to make you feel comfortable. If you have any questions or are feeling nervous the day of your appointment, don’t hesitate to tell us. We want to make sure you have an incredible experience (plus we know you’ll love the results)!

BONUS TIP: What Not To Do before sugaring or waxing:

You shouldn’t sugar or wax…

  • If you are using Accutane. You should not wax for at least 6 months after using the product.

  • If you are using Retin A, Renova, Strivectin, or any other topical or oral medications that may affect the outcome of your treatment.

  • For one week after laser treatments.

  • If you have a sunburn.

  • After spray tanning (it will remove your tan and leave a line). However, you can do a spray tan the next day after your waxing/sugaring appointment.
